A2 TDI rough running until warmed up

2001, fully serviced, just passed through 70,000 miles

This morning the wife complained that the car was "Kangarooing" Went to go to work this evening and still running rough and now the ABS light and traction control warning lights were on. Swapped cars and after a while the fault dissapeared.
Just started the car from cold and all seemed fine then the rough running and warning lights appeared. Took the car out for a drive and it did not seem like it was running on all cylinders. Just before the engine reached normal water temp I pulled over and switched off. Waited a while and started her up. No warning lights but still a bit lumpy. After a short while the car reached normal running temp and the engine was then running like a dream.

Anyone with any ideas

Ideally you should get the car checked for fault codes.I had a similar problem with my polo tdi which i believe is the same engine.Turned out to be the injector wiring loom.
