    Hi all,

Following on from advice on this forum, I took the plunge and took off the EGR valve and gave it a good scrubbing to tidy it up.

    It was caked in carbon.

I also took off the inlet manifold and gave that a good cleaning too.

I put the whole lot back together and now the throttle is very jumpy.

If your going through town at say 40mph and doing 1500rpm, if you floor it, the engine kind of jumps a bit and then gives the acceleration.

Does anybody know if i have done something wrong or is something airlocked somewhere?

    any help appreciated.

    Thanks

As a further update there is now a loud hissing coming from the car when the turbo really begins to spin around 2000rpm or so.

The hiss is about ten times louder than it ever was before.

Have i done some serious damage?

Anybody have any suggestions for me?

    thanks
    Conor

Hi It sounds like you have a leak either from the manifold gasket or a pipe you have not connected, try spraying around the manifold with some easy start gas,to see if you can locate the leak

If you are going through town at say 40 mph, you should be gathering points, if you floor it you should be locked up!

I meant that as you were travelling in the 40mph zones and then accelerated once you were past the 60mph signpost!
