    Hi All,
    (Passat tdi estate 2001)
Can anyone tell me if water leaking into the passenger footwell is common on Passat's? Also, where it might be coming from and how to sort it?
The alarm is going off as soon as the car is locked, i presume due to dampness or water inside the box of tricks under the carpet.
Thanks to anyone who takes time to read and respond.
    Cheers.

Hi mate if you search this forum you will find the answer, it is very common, the problem is either the pollen filter housing gasket or the drain holes in the plenum chamber which are located under the battery tray and other one is under the brake servo, easy to get to, they get clogged up with dirt and do not drain the water away, be careful not to damage the scuttle panel when taking out the battery they are very brittle as i found out when i did mine!

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I actually removed the plastic cover that lets you into the servo etc to have a look in earlier today, it was pretty much as i expected quite dirty, leaves etc but no standing water.
Hopefully it will stop chucking it down enough tomorrow so i can have a look at the drains and see what i can find.
    Cheers!

Hi Have a look at these two links. It looks like you have some repair work and drying out to do.
