    Hi Chaps,

I have an A6 Avant (1999) that is always wet (when it rains), at the bottom of the inner tailgate. I had a loose hinge bolt during the Summer but I tightened the bolt and aligned the door gap.

Anyone had any similar problems, could it be a worn door seal or maybe the roof arial seal perished??

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Water ingress, can sometimes be hard to locate. You can rest assured it is not the aerial otherwise the headliner would be soaking.First check the drain holes at the bottom of the tailgate. While sitting inside the boot, get someone to hose the tailgate.Starting at the bottom and gradually move the hose upwards, and see if you can find out in which position the hose is in,when the water starts to enter the vehicle, number plate, rear wiper, rear window, and the rubber grummets on each side on top of the tailgate, are some places you can look out for.

I had a similar problem and found a leaking washer pipe - only used to clean the rear screen when it was raining!

You could smell it. if it had of been washer fluid. The drain holes are on the seam of the inner and outer plating along the bottom of the tailgate.
