    hi all

traveling down the motorway the other day i reached 95mph, and she wouldnt go any faster, like 95 was top end.
there just wasnt any puch in 5th or 6th.

my car is a 53 gt tdi 150, with 40k on the clock.

i had alot faster speeds out of a previous 150, so i know 95 isnt the max. (NOT THAT I WANT TO GO MUCH FASTER !!)
point being the car isnt 100% !!

could this be a maf sensor issue ??

can anyone shed any light on this for me ??

    cheers

    ian

did your turbo seem to be functioning properly? MAF doesnt tend to affect top end speed, more the smoothnes with which you reach it. MAF faults tend to exhibit themselves mroe profoundly in lower rev ranges and speeds.

the whole car drives fine, no problem with the turbo, altho in every gear it seems like the car has only 90% of its potential full power.
its not as powerfull as it was a few days ago.

    feels like i have gone from a 150hp to a 100hp golf

just seems to top out at 95mph.

noooooo :P thats what im asking, when you have got to 95 and perhaps drop back down to say around 70/80, is the turbo still functioning as it should, im trying to see if it is the speed, or the revs your reaching that is causing the problem

i didnt notice the rev counter but the turbo dose still work and pull the car at 80, it gets to about 90 and just holds it there, i dont hear no turbo drop or rev up.

well a way to check if its what im thinking, take it out, stick to the speed limit but rev in 2nd gear until around 2800/3000 rpm, if you feel the power die there and it remains 'dead' id say its a turbo issue, if its working fine however, could be a number of things, could be the EGR valve although i dont think this would affect top speed, could be a turbo hose, but again, this would be all the way through the rev/speed range. let us know how you get on with the garage and let us know what they say.....

UPDATE: car feels 100% better, she goes like a bomb now, i have no idea what the lads at the garage did as they said the car drove fine, the problem seems to have fixed itself, apparently there were no faults with the car or ecu fault codes showing!!

    every thing spot on !!

in the reply where it says remains dead do you mean the turbo doesnt boost again in any gear or only boosts to 3000 rpm mine seems to only boost till 3000 revs and by a turbo issue do you mean a new turbo or actuator.

    thanks
