Is there any mechanical aspect to it. When i sit in my car there is a strange clunking that comes from beneath the passenger carpet? Surely the CCU is purely an electrical device so should make no such sound?

Or even what else is under there?

Are there any heating vents that run underneath the carpet? The only reasomn i ask is is almost the same plasticy clunky noise that the various flaps behind the dash make when you change the direction of the air flow?

    So from the beginning...

Had a load of problems starting with the Plenum chamber flooding. The first thing was a car that wouldn't start due to a dead battery that had a p.d. of only 5V.

Swaped the battery out and drained the plenum chamber (there wasn't much water in it when i got to it - but i had heard water sloshing about before which caused me todo a searach on here to try to find out what it was).

But i was obviously to late as then had the problem of malfunctioning windows even after they had been re-synced (Window would get anywhere up to half way up then return down). had to repeatedly press and let go of the button in order to get the stupid things to the top.

Repeated false alarms and flickering interior lights. (Once the car has been run for a while they correctly fade up and down when you leave the car but when you return to the car they flicker again.

Anyway was due an audi service & camblet so i took it to them and meantioned the problem and the plenum chamber. Paid £999.05 for the priviledge. They have sorted the windows I believe. Said it was poor battery earth connection (DID THEY EVEN LOOK AT THE CCU?!?!?).

But the interior lights have started flickering again and the alarm apparently went off yesterday though none of the lights were flashing and i still have this strange random quiet clunking coming from beneath the passenger side carpet?

I'm presuming anything that makes a sound has to be moving and therefore had the potential to drain the new battery?

Thanks for you help, this is driving me nuts and cost me almost a grand so far! Almost want to drive it into a wall on purpose and get a new car!

    hmm interesting, thanks.

Wonder why its making that noise? Unless it sounds like its coming from there was down on my hands and my knees listening so i'm pretty sure! I'll check again and investigate.

Hi, I am hunting down a similar elec fault. The CCU does click every time the central locking operates. This happens every few minutes whether I want it to or not. My elec windoows have also stopped and interior lights have a mind of their own. The CCU is dry although I did have water pour in from battery compartment.
Hope you sort your prob. Audi want £104.00 per hour to look at it!!!!!

Took it to Audi, they gave the old poor battery earth. Still least the windows work sometimes now interior lights problem and clicking still not fixed. It's going back to be sorted soon with a few angry words!

Hi, i got similar problems, namely mystery battery drain. been back to audi about 4 times and has had various ( expensive ) components changed.
my car is under warranty so not costing me yet but getting extremely annoying.
Ive had interior lights operating of their own accord, Hazard switch light especially, also, went out to it one frosty morning to find that all the glass was clear as apposed to all the other cars in the street. ! ??? battery has been checked, no problem there. just goes flat after about 2 days.
Just want to ask, what is a plenum chamber, why would it fill with water, where is it and how do you drain it? and also, why would this cause the problem? got to start trying other things now, cos audi seem to be no closer to solving the problem. so far, they have replaced about £3000 worth of components mainly in the entertainment system and it has not done a thing! HELP!!!
