    Hi guys!

    I have a question for you that I hope some of you could use your expertise / past experiences on...

    I am currently looking at buying an 2004 Bora Highline 2.0 which has done 30, 000 miles roughly.

    Is there anything I should be aware of;

    - Rust in certain places?
    - Common problems?

    etc etc....

    Also, once I have bought the car is there anything I should expect;

    - cambelt change
    - electrical faults

    again, etc etc.

    What sort of prices should I be looking at paying for such model?

    Anyone who can help me on this / or provide additional information would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks!
    Scott.

    The 2.0 is the dog of the MK4 engines. Sad but true and no offence meant to any 2.0 owners.

    It is a lightly updated version of the 2.0 unit that was fitted to the MK3 Golf, it should have been retired before being fitted to the MK3 let alone the MK4 !

    The most common problem with this engine is that the piston rings allow substantial amounts of oil to pass which causes problems with the Lamda Sensor and can ruin the CAT.

    Personally I'd avoid it and look at TDI's, 1.8 petrols or 1.8 petrol turbos.

    The only advantage maybe that the 2.0 is going to be cheaper.

    Further to the above, is there anyone who could help me on what to look for when purchasing a Bora?

    In terms of common problems etc?
