Netbooks...Which one? (if any?)

Hey Guys,

Have been considering getting one of the hundreds of netbooks available....one that seem to be highly regarded is the MSI Wind U120, but no-one appears to know when its going to be released. Anyone on here know anything?

Or alternatives, or whether to bother at all?

Any thoughts gratefully recieved!

Just bought (and using to type this) an Advent 4489. This is a clone of an MSI I believe. Advent are a DSG group (Currys, Dixons PC World etc) make. So far it seems very good indeed. I thought about a Linux one but in the end bought one with Windows and a 80Gb hard drive.

I guess it depends what you want to use it for.

Ah ok, thats interesting, thanks! An 80 gig hard drive is pretty healthy size, and most doing this sort of thing on it....just less bulky to take to ships (work)...
Not sure about this Linux thing...would go for the windows version too I reckon.

just bought my daughter an Acer aoa150ab of Amazon £ 191- box was supposed to be damaged but came perfect ,should have been £215. 1gig ram 120gig hd. this got good reviews on there ,its linux but xp is a free down load the reviewers say. dont know if this helps but good luck anyway.

Thats great thanks! Sounds like a good spec too!! I dont know enough about this linux thing, to be able to judge it, but would prefer windows I reckon.

daughter uses it for bebbo, msn is a problem at the moment, but im sure my son will suss it out !!!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha. too technical for old folk like me .

I just bought a Samsung NC10, with windows XP and a 160GB hard disk, 10 inch screen. Awesome bit of kit!

Ahah, i was just reading about that NC10 Cheers, ....really does raise the bar spec wise! The hard drive is bigger than the one in my full size laptop I think!....so you are happy with it so far then?

So far so good. I wanted it for installing ETKA, Elsawin and VAG-COM, as the first two wont run properly on Vista. It'll also be used while travelling as my normal laptop is too big/heavy to be truly portable.

I guess it depends what you want to use it for.

my laptop is an advent, good piece of kit. dual core 1.73ghz, 15.4 screen, 2gb ram, 120gb hard drive, dvd writer and vista. really rate them as a budget laptop, its a 5301, think i paid 329 for it.
