    Hi

With the Golf in its 6th iteration and with a Hot performance diesal around the corner promising over 200bhp, it would be interesting to find out what people consider as the best of the best diesal Golf of the M4 & Mk5's The cars must be standard factor spec.

    Here are the contenders

    Mk4 Golf Tdi 110bhp
    Mk4 Golf Tdi 115bhp 6 speed
    Mk4 Golf Tdi 130bhp 6 speed
    Mk4 Golf Tdi 150bhp 6 speed

    Mk5 Golf Tdi 140bhp 6 speed/DSG
    Mk5 Golf Tdi 170bhp 6 speed/DSG

Interestingly enough does the DSG trnasmission with the paddle shift improve the sporting pretentions and performance of the car?

Has anyone roll tested theirs - as i heard that manufacturer claoimed outputs are conservative and the actual outputs are a bit higher - can onyone verify this?

Any other suggestions - would be welcome

    regards

For me the golf V 170 DSG is the best among the lot as i had the golf IV 150, and 115hp The 150 was quick but the 170 is faster and the suspension a bit firmer especcially around corners.
Oh yes i had mine on the RR. The output as at about 14000m was 168hp but then they reckon they could ve push it a bit more if it had not been the DSG. I eventually had it mapped with the ST3 which took it up to 220bhp.
Mine got the flappy paddle and it does make a difference as you determine when to change the gears as you do with a manual.....

I m interested to see what the new generation Golf VI got to offer.

Have had a mk4 GT TDI 110,and now have a 150 pd.The 150 is excellent, but having never driven a mk5 i can't comment although i would really like to have a go in the 170bhp mk5.Seriously thinking of mapping my pd150 this year and seeing what happens!
