I would need the VW number off your old turbo and then I can look it up in the list to get the Garret number. The number did change at the beginning of 2001 production.

038 253 019 B is a VAG style number but does not exist, the turbo for a Sharan with an AUY engine pre chassis wvwzzz7Mz1V030000 (approximately) is 038 253 019 D so I think it must be a D not a B.

    038 253 019 D crosses over to Garret numbers

    454232-0002
    454232-2
    4542320002
    4542322
    454232-0011
    454232-11
    4542320011
    45423211

The only other VAG car it was used on was the early Golf 4 4 Motion TDI with the ATD engine and I have never seen on of those in the UK.

The VW number is now 038 253 019 DX.
