since buying my 54 plate transporter the central locking has never worked off the remote key, but does work fine with the key in the lock.
i had an auto locksmith out to try and resynk the keys but he found that the unit under the seat has corroded conections ive cleaned it up but it still dont work.
anybody know how much the unit is new? will the keys still need resynking witht he new box or is it plug and play?

    cheers

I have exactly the same problem! This is the first bit of light I've read on the subject!

With this in mind, I'll have a look at the control box over Christmas. I'll report back here. Apparently the T5 range doesn't suffer water ingress problems, so I'm at a loss as to how and why they have corroded.

Provided the control box doesn't involve the immobiliser in any way, you don't have to go to the dealer to re-sync it. It can be done with VAG-COM, PC based diagnostic software.

Tip: Don't refer to dealers as ******** on here, it doesn't go down well with the staff or sponsors.

    Aha! Look what I found:

Okay, Kenney do you have any ideas as to what to do now?

I've since cleaned the contacts, and it still doesn't work. Is the next step getting a new one?

Blimey, you could get a few quid for the copper on the copper oxide in there......

    That's some cleaning job...
Nothing to see here, move along..

yep looks familier that, pretty knackered now, i'd say its a new one and reprogram the keys, just hope it works as its not going to be cheap no doubt.
if you get a quote or any success before me keep me posted...

    EDIT

just ordered one from VW at a costly price of £155.81, plus then an aditional £40 to re-program the keys. having it all done wensday so i'l let you know the outcome

I WD40'd it but I'm still having the same problem. They did clean up pretty well TBH, but the contacts on the vehicle have become corroded as well due to the box in question being corroded.

Cheers Rhyd. I've got software to code the keys, and I've been successful in coding them with my Audi before. However the coding sequence on the van is different, and I don't actually think its working, i.e the box isn't listening to the computer, so they won't re-code. If that's the case, I could just get the box, and re-code myself, providing the new box fixes it for you.

    Cheers
