    Hi all,

I have now read quite a bit on this forum and elsewhere how to upgrade to remote locking and have also bought a generic kit. Actually the guy who sold it on ebay said it was for a Polo, but there are no sockets in the package, let alone car specific. Only a socket to connect to the main unit, from there on i seem to be on may own. But before sending it back, i thought id give it a try. Considering the unit costed 18EUR, ok fine ill put it in myself

    I understand i need a 680Ohm resistor, no problem.

What I am wondering however, is where i find the connectors to the blinkers? Its not the end of the world, but id like to have the flashing on the car when locking/unlocking. Where is the best place to connect into?

Are the blinkers also a negative trigger?

Any tips, help or tricks would be much appreciated.

    Thanks
    Alex.

The colour code of the turn signal wires is black/white (left) and black/green (right). These come from the column switch and go to the onboard supply control unit. I have never powered the indicators on a 9N with its onboard supply control unit so I don’t know if it would get upset by this.

Thanks Crasher, would you also know where this control unit is in the car? I guess it would be cleaner to find the unit and connect on its socket. Id also have to do some testing and would hate to cut the wrong wire, so better to go on the socket of the control unit.

The unit is under the relay plate above your right foot.

Thanks again Crasher much aporeciated. I gave it a shot today, found the unit and the cabels too. I have now two other problems:

    1. When the key is not in the ignition, the direction lights dont come on, instead the parking light comes on and the light warning ( beeps when you forget to turn off the light ). Only with the key inside the direction lights come on. Maybe I could instead use the connection to the warning lights. They work even without the ignition key.

    2. This is the bigger problem. I cant get the cover of the drivers door opened. It sounds rediculous, but I have tried everything without breaking something. It seems to be stuck somewhere in the middle of the door where the handle is, but cant find any traces of any screws or anything.

    Any ideas?

    1. That is correct, parking lights are initiated by the ignition switch going to the P position. This will not affect the system you are fitting, it provides its own flash function, it does not operate the flasher relay, well none that I have ever fitted anyway.

    2. The screws are under the switch/pull trim.
