B5 Sticky hard to open doors

I have now had three B5 A4's. A 1.8 20v, 2.8 Quattro and presently a S4 bi turbo. Each of these has had one front door that is heavy to open. the last two it was the passenger door, but on the s4 it is the drivers door, therefore much more of a problem (for me).
Is this a common hinge issue? i have played about with the hinges in the past but it doesnt seem to have much of an effect.

Mine used to be stiff until i used a general spray oil (3in1) to sort it.
I had used WD40 before but it has not enough lubrication and too quickly goes back to stiff.

I hope its that simple, im sure my first a4 was bent anyway, perhaps this one is just needing some lube
