    Hi all newbie about,
Apologies if this has been done to death people, I have have used the search option on the site to look for and posts or threads relating to converting my avant 2.4 to 4 wheel drive, I would imagine its been done before but can't seem to find the info on it, I know I would need the running gear from a similar year S4 but was wondering if I need to fabricate the mounting points on the body to fit it up or are they already there?. Any info or heads up would be much appreciated people

Why build a car that you can buy factory made quite cheap ? First, the boot floor is completelly different and it will need extensive cutting and shutting to get them to sit right, there are differences between the quattro chassys and normal FWD, the rear bench is different and you will be left with an odd looking car...The fuel tank will need upgradding, you will need the donor's gearbox and diff and an awfull lot of stuff to swap over. For the time and money you need to spend, a factory made one will be much more sensible...

I've no doubt it is possible but the only sensible way to do it would be to buy a similar quattro as a donor car so you could get all of the bits including the chassis mounts, g/box and all the fiddly little bits that cost a fortune to complete the job.
If you were to do that you would already have a complete quattro ! If your car is in good nick, build the good bits from it into the quattro it is far simpler.
