If you opt for the SE TDi, insurance will be cheaper (Group 6 compared to Group 13 for a GT TDi). For mpg, 55mpg as the SE has the 1.9 TDi. On the looks a GT is better with body coloured door, side/bumper strips, larger alloys (16" imola), sports suspension but for luxury SE is better. Earlier GTs (53 to 05 plates) attract a higher road tax band. Service costs at a dealership will be more than £255, best to shop around.

I have got my 04 GT TDI 140 recently and am loving it. So far i have averaged around 43-47mpg on my 17 mile commute to and from work. Its a good mix of A road and minor stop start road.
Great car so far and no regrets as yet!

My 53 plate MK5 gt is £120 for the year on tax. not too bad i think.

i paid £180 for a service and i supplied my own oil.

I'm geting about 45 average on a 62 mile rounf trip But i have had as much as 48 one way.

I had the battery diconected a few times, sorting out a few issues, so I think it may get better.

PS I do love the torque
