    Hi,

I had the car in for an MOT today and to replace the temp sender (faulty). Driving it home the car (2001 TDI130 Passat) lost all boost. I attached vag-com this afternoon but had a problem with it and it keeps shutting down with a problem (Vista doesn't like it - v409.1). The first time I ran for fault codes the first came back with fault starting "Negative pressure..." and the program failed before I could read further. I haven't been able to get it to run again.

Can anybody give me an idea of what the fault code is? Could it be the N75 playing up?

Can anybody give me an idea of

try right click with mouse on vagcom icon, and select run as admistrator. Should work after fine with vista.
About power loss, check if all pipes conected right. Same happened to me, when i asked garage to clean egr valve, they forgot to conect one of pipes.
Is no boost at all time while driving?

It feels like it wants to boost when I try to accelerate but fails and goes flat immediately. I checked the pipework and everything looks OK. I'll try running it again with administrator privileges and see what happens. Thanks fir the tip.

    Fault code is:

17964 - Charge Pressure Control: Negative Deviation.

Any further details as to what this is would be appreciated.

Just did a search on the fault code and know what it could be. It may be that replacing the temp sender may have caused a vacuum hose problem, either the mechanic didn't re-install it properly or it was damaged somehow. I will take a look tomorrow morning.

    Thanks for all the help.

OK, 17964, under boost, not 17965 over boost-usually a vac pipe leak. Take off the vac pipe from the servo pump to servo feed hose and suck on it, if you can suck air, there is a leak.

Took the engine cover off this morning and checked the vacuum lines. Found one which was disconnected. Incompetant mechanics! Anyway, fixed and engine is now boosting fine. Thanks for the help.
