Hehe I'll get some pics up of the GTI tomorrow hopefully, it's been pi**ing down with rain all day today - which means it's had a rinse since coming off the M40!

As for previous comments made on mk3's, each to their own I suppose - but I think everyone knows you can't beat the build quality of a VW So I think there's some bitterness there. Look at the classic VW Beetles for instance, ive seen a few round Crawley still going strong!

My god it's quick, I just hope I dont get bored of it and start craving for a vR6!

The interior is alot more luxurious aswell, they're only little things but I was like "OOh, electric sunroof...!! Omg, ACTUAL air con!!" lol. It feels so nice to drive, it really does. The only bad thing about it at the moment is that the exhaust has a small blow in it, but the whole system will be getting replaced soon anyway so it's no big deal, and the electric windows don't work but you can hear the motor working so I think it's just a case of re-attaching the windows to the motor. So just little things, but as for the engine - sweet as a nut.

Its got new yokohama tyres aswell so the grip is great, went round the roundabout at some speed and it held the road like sh*t to a rag (excuse the expression), my 1.4 would've just spun out and totaled

    Happy times.

If she keeps running well, will you be tempted for mods along the way?

Don't get going too barmy! If the windows sound like they're going but not moving, it may well be snapped regulator cables but you can get new regulators off Ebay for about £30 so not too much of a bank breaker.

Definitley, that's why I was getting worried about the mileage because this will be a project. My 1.4 was going to be the project but I've come to my senses now.

The GTI will be garaged for a couple of months now anyway, which gives me time to work on the interior to begin with. I have a small budget sound system which will have to be fitted (got 2 subs, amp and wiring kit for a xmas present a while ago which are still boxed up!), I'm also paying my boyfriend's dad who is an upholsterer with about 30 years worth of experience to do the dash for me. I'm going to go for the eurostyle look and get some nice deepdish rims from a dubstyle website I found (Kerscher Futura rims) and get the whole car resprayed in a nice metallic black, along with a subtle smooth eurostyle kit fitted.

As for engine mods, I will try and keep the bay in keeping with the interior. Car will be black with a deep purple interior, so I did a search and I found a purple samco hose kit which I'm going to have to buy

Sounds good. Any good with a set of spanners yourself?

Must say, the red Golf looks great with those tinted windows!

Unfortunatley, when it comes to the hands-on side of the engine I'm not that great, but when it comes to talking about the engine and how it works, I seem to know more about stuff like that than most lads my age I really want to learn, thinking about going back to college to do a mechanics course but that won't be for a while.

And yeah, the red golf is my little 1.4 - gets alot of looks and I still love it to peices! It's staying in the family though, once my other half is done with it, my older brother has said he wants to buy it

Ahh good! I like hearing of people who are willing to get their hands dirty over their cars!

Not surprised the 1.4 gets looks either, the pictures look smashing! Hope the new Golf gets similar looks.
