    Hi
Im new to this site and need some advise :-

Just bought a 55 plate VW Golf TDI 4Motion, I have a problem with the accelerate. When im on the motorway doing approx 70 mph in 6th gear and try to accelerate I get a loud ish noise and slight vibration (similar to when your in the wrong gear ie need to gear down) until you drive through it ie 80mph. Ive had a new CV joint in the front passenger side for a tight spot on the wheel. This has cured the bad vibration but not the noise !!!

The noise also happens in 4th gear when accelerating sharply.

    Anyone got any ideas ???
Help required - only have 1 week left on warranty.

    Thanks in advance.
    xx

take it back and insist on a tech bod to accompany you on a test drive and prove your point. when he acknowledges it, get him to repeat it infront of another member of the service team. that way, they have to acknowledge that the fault was reported before the warranty expired and must be repaired even if the warranty has expired.

Eh yeah, take it back and quick. As golfmk5gttdi says take a mechanic out with you so they can hear the noise also, don't let them take it out themselves or they'll just deny everything!!

hi i have the same car , and i also had the same problem , it was almost as if i could not use 6th gear unless i was doing over 80 , CURE a full service done the job , also try staying in the lower gear slightly longer , but my noise and vibration have gone , i did consider prop shaft or the haldex system but that was not the case..............

    Help needed again.

Just had a mechanic look at my car and they have tried removing the back prop shaft - to basically make it a 2 wheel drive. This has cured the problem.

Do you think a new prop shaft will cure the problem or just the start of something worse ??
