Mk4 Brakes

I know this has been covered but here goes.....

I decided to change my disc's, pads, rear calipers and brake fluid to make the car perfect. I got the parts and left it to my local mechanic who has always done ok for me before now.
When i went to collect the car, he said he couldn't get the pedal feel back and thought i needed a new master cylinder. This seemed odd as the master cylinder had been fine the day before.
Anyway, after googling and looking on here, there seems to be a long bleed procedure which you need to go through if any air gets in the system.
Thats ok...so off i went to find someone with a little skill and vag-com to do the work. The problem is, there isn't anyone in Cardiff who has any skill or equipment. I went to 'Cardiffs VW and Audi Specialists' who said nobody has that kind of software except VW. He wouldn't accept that 2 friends I have in Dublin have this setup just for tinkering.
Anyway, I've booked it in to VW this afternoon-I'm not sure the VW guy knew what i was talking about either.........
Sometimes I wonder why I bother trying to keep the car in tip top condition.

If you don't keep brakes tip top, problems tend to occur ie. total loss on insurance, maybe a touch of permanent injury etc.

i have a simular problem too,
i had my rear pads and discs changed and also a new caliper becuase it had popped out, and i cant find anyone who can bleed the brakes properly. the garge where the brakes were changed bled the brakes but still felt spongy then i went to quick fit for a full bleed, there a little better after quick fit had a go but there still not how they were.

what is the problem with bleeding the brakes
why is it so difficult

I think the problem is if any air at all gets in the system, especially into the ABS pump, then its really difficult to get out.
I took mine to VW and it took the guy 3 attempts but he finally got it sorted. £50 well spent.
Its a procedure with a number of steps where you need Vag-com or a VW dealer to plug the car in.
Kwik-fit will just bleed it with a pressure bleeder.
My brakes are brilliant now!
