    Hi,

Being a clumsy clutz the other day I broke the control knob off the Electric Mirror Control Switch on my 2001 Passat.

I’ve been relieved of £23 for my stupidity by VW. Has anyone replaced these switches before. It looks like it should pop out with a gentle lever with a screwdriver, however when I try it doesn’t want to budge – maybe I need more force, but don’t want to wreck the surrounding plastic. Any ideas appreciated.

    Thanks
    Marc

I have a feeling you need to remove the door panel - prising the switch out results in a lot more damage.

Considering selling my VCDS KEY-USB interface. If you're interested please contact me via PM or email.

Remove the dorr panel. Pretty sure if you go at it with a screwdriver from the outside you will damage the lugs that hold the switch in position.

That's correct - you need to remove the door panel, as the switch is held in by metal tabs bent around the hole. Prising it with a screwdriver will damage the door panel
