Had a problem with the usual water in the passenger floor etc on my 2002 Passat and fixed it all and dried it out, thanks to this site. The blipper will still not operate the alarm and central locking even though the key will turn in the lock and operate the alarm perfectly. I have changed the fob battery in both fobs but they flash happily and the car refuses to lock/switch alarm on. I have checked the wiring loom plugs by the passenger A frame and they are all clean and tidy so does anyone know where do I go from here ?

Match the remotes to the car

Hi, I had a similar fault and stripped the key fob to find that the plastic piece holding the circuit board had broken, therefore when pressing the button it would flex the circuit board and not press the contact micro switch inside. I refitted the circuit board back in place and melted(using a solder iron) the plastic retainer over the top. The local dealer insisted a new remote was required, proved them wrong and it still works fine 12 months later.

    Cheers
