Hi all, hope you can help, my interior lights dont work when opening the rear doors on my 2000 110 TDI. Is this usual?, when I open the front doors all the lights work ok. How do the sensors work so I can check them and/or the wiring etc.

    Jez.

Er, you don't state what car this is for.

Perhaps armed with that info, we'll be able to help

HI Graham I bet ur wires have coroded in ur passenger footwell. It'l be the red wire that has rotted away. Cut off the decayed wire and join it back together, it'l probably work then, you'll need to find out where the water ingress is coming from though. Usually the blocked battery tray drainers, remove the battery you'll see them, or under the pollen filter housing, you'll have to seal it with siicone sealant, or ur windscreen's leaking. I had the same problem just like many other passat owners. Hope this helps, if not drop me another line. No luck with my lights as it seems a little complex, they do work, its just when I open the rear doors the lights don't come on, they're fine when I open the front doors.

    Hi Jez
I managed to get the carpet out - took the seat out too and got it all dried out. The CCU conections with the little metal "spuds" were coroded and one was broken - no. 21. I thought this was the problem with the interior light but when I reattached a wire and the meal rod going into the circuit board it still made no difference. I am baffled! the board could be shot and thats the reason i dont know? I was the blue wire no 21 that had the broken "spud" not the red one.
All the other wires seem to be ok. I dont know what else to do.
One other thing was that when i took the seat out i had to disconnect the airbag wires - when i put the seat back in i reconnected it but now I am getting a warning on the dash with "airbag fault" showing. I dont now know how to cancell it - does any one have any suggestions?

Ah! I got this when the hands-free fitter unplugged the airbag warning lamp on the radio surround.

As a matter of interest, did you do this with the ignition on or off?

A ******* will charge you £88 to reset it or an independent will charge £25.
