hi, i had a mk2 golf driver and i replaced the clocks with one that had a rev counter instead of the big clock, and the rev counter worked, but last week it went to german heaven, i brought another mk2 driver and tried the same trick but this time it didnt work, the rev counter just sits on 0.....

I had a Driver with rev counter & my friend had the same car but without. He too did what you did & the rev counter worked with no issues.

The single main cable that fits into the back of the dash for the speedo & rev counter etc is the only mechanical connection into the display so I reckon if your other rev counter isn't working, either something inside the display is broken or there is something amiss between the cable in & the counter itself.

The dial display is a sealed unit so its not practical trying to opening it & see whats broken inside.

Maybe try a breakers for another one?

i have tried 3 different sets of clocks and the rev counter on all of them doesnt work, i think the wire from the coil or dizzy controls the rev counter.
