Hi guys, left hand side hinge has broken on my 2002 a4 avant. Do i have to replace the whole door or are the hinges separate ? Also does the glovebox have to come out ?

    You can either:

    1) Make metal brackets to support the broken hinge

    2) Buy a new glovebox hinge which is the inner part of the lid. You have to remove the outer cover and lock to install back into the new part

    3) Look on ebay for one which is what I did. 99p I got mine for plus 12 delivery...bargain

Only had the car for 3 months and so far its not all thats its cracked up to be! Have had a coolant leak, then just had to replace air intake sensor then a cam sensor n now gearbox is crunchin in 1st n 2nd! Wish i'd stuck wi my 10 year old A3 it was immaculate n problem free!

S-line, I have the clunky 1st to 2nd gear to. It's ok once warm or a few miles. I checked my gearbox oil and noticed that it was 7mm below the line. I think the tolerance is 0-7mm so I may top up and see if any difference is noticed.

I had the glovebox hinge brake. I got one from another member for a few pounds. When you get a new one, spray some WD-40 inside the piston mechanism so it doesn't happen again! Another design fault from Audi!!!

My left hand side hinge is broken as well, i went to audi and they quoted me some silly price to replace the glovebox door
A4jim could you shed any more detail on points 2 & 3, on ebay i seem to only see the whole lid does this include the hinge,

The hinge is actually is part of the inner section of the glovebox lid. If you buy from Audi you can buy just that section and swap over the lid and lock.

If you find any on ebay it will be the whole lid and inner section with lock.
