Help guys again!! Today on a short trip down the garage to get a pasty, my car [ 2.0tdi 140 ] lost most of it's power.
I limped back ok at a very slow pace and seemed like it didn't want to go.

Now when started it later it was fine.
I've taken it to my bro in laws at the VW garage he works at, and he plugged it in to vag.com, it turns out to be a fault in the EGR valve.
He has erased the fault and checked all the little pipe things were connected. He told me to wait until it happens again.

Know what i want to know is, a. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
    b. How much did it cost to fix? And was it a long job?

    Thanks once again
    Heathy

E.G.R valves on 2.0 TDI,normally cause problems yes,They are very common to failure.
They normally get blocked up from all the carbon, was your car kicking out loads of black exhaust fumes when you were going back to the garage,as this normally happens,The engine is E.G.R ing to much is what some people call it.

They are not a big job to change,I would check your E.G.R cooler aswell,at the other side of the engine, check for black exhaust carbon leakes to see if this isn't blowing aswell,as this sometimes happens and the engine becomes quite noisey !

Joe, thanks for your reply! I didn't notice any black smoke, but then i wasn't looking for it. Pretty sure it wasn't tho!
The cars been fine ever since, so must be a intermittent fault.
I wander if this has anything to do with the slight judder at 14oo-2000 rpm when driving real slow.

It's bloody happened again, this time the little yellow pic of a engine has illuminated and will not go out!
Taking it in again tomorrow, and should find out how much to fix, this car is fast becoming the most expensive to keep on the road ever
