I recently got myself a MK4 golf 99 model and I have a couple of questions,

Firstly what bulbs do people recommend for night driving, the ones I have in at the minute just don't seem to work that well... that or I'm getting old and blind, I've read about Xenon bulbs are they any good ? Some recommendations would be good,

Second thing is, The front drivers side of the car seemed to get lower recently by about 4cm, (the distance between the tire and wheel arch) then the next day the Passenger front side also lowered itself then 2 days later the passengers rear side lowered itself. This is leaving only the Drivers rear side at a normal level from what I can see the rest of the car looks like I've had it lowered, Would that be the shocks or could it be something else, I'll be brining it in for a service in 2 weeks seems to drive fine just looks a bit strange.

    Thanks

    Paul.

I use Osram Silverstar bulbs for main and dipped beams and don't have any problems with light on Welsh country roads. I think these are fitted as standard by VW; maybe someone has used inferior replacements. PS best way to get more light output is to keep the lens clean, especially in Winter. It's amazing how even a very light coating of salt or dirt cuts down the light.
