Hi everybody. Needing some advice on how to repair my drivers window. The metal cable in the door panel(criss/cross) which allows the window to travel up and down has snapped. The local volkswagen dealership has quoted me 84 quid for the relevant parts. Any ideas.

    Much appreciated

Thats about the correct price. For that you get the whole panel with the regulator fitted to it.

all im really looking for is just the cable it self. The local dealership will only sell it with the other parts. There must be some way round about this to do a diy job on it.

When I needed one I did a search and there was someone who did just the cables on e/bay for about £30,if you do a search you might be lucky.I didnt go for that option I bought the ready assembled dealer part.

not sure if this helps, I'm in Canada. When the same thing happened on my '01 Golf TDI I found out from my local dealer that the part had been listed in a service bulletin and both the drivers and passengers side were replaced for free. Doesn't hurt to ask
