    Quick (silly) question

good lady wife spooted i have a blown reversing light.
looked in the manual and it said changing bulb on reversing light not lights

rather than go out in cold and wet does anyone know if the car has one or two reversing light?

    cheers

It has one, I believe on the nearside. The matching space on the offside is the foglight.

to test this theory, reverse to a garage door or wall, park with the lights on and the fog light on. Get out and have a look.

then with foot on clutch, engage reverse. (the reverse light may even come on with the engine off but the ignition on) you will see the wall light up.

You can also check your indicators and brake bulbs the same way.

How lazy are you!?!? - Don't you have a wife that can go out in the cold and check it for you??

PS - You have 1x reversing light on the nearside, and 1x fog light on the offside. Unless you've rolled your car, in which case you'll have 1x reversing light on the offside, and 1x fog light on the nearside. LOL

I may be looking through rose-tinted specs, but is there anyone else that can remember reversing lights that actually illuminated what was at the rear of the car, rather than just displaying a white light to let people know you were going to reverse over them?

I now use my hazards to reverse in the dark as the standard reversing light is totally inadequate.

It's easy enough to check - just look at the car's rear end!!

The foglight bulb on one side is visibly red, the reversing light bulb on the other is visibly white.

The light clusters are asymmetric, to use a posh word

I realise this thread has gone a bit cold, but no-one seems to have responded to the point that the reversing light performance, in terms of how well it lights the area behind you, is pretty naff and what to do about it.

Having recently been playing with my girlfriend's Suzuki Barbie Jeep, putting nice blue LEDs into the instruments (like in the Passat), I am tempted to fit some of these super bright white LEDs you can get on the internet, to augment the standard light, maybe drilling them into the bumper or around the number plate and connecting them to the grey/white cable I used to connect the Dolphin reversing sensors.

    Any thoughts?
