I'm installing a HID kit to my 06 VW Touran & am trying to remove the headlamp uint to make this easier .... there are 2 star-point nuts on top & I've removed these, but the unit still doesn't want to come out.

Does anyone have any ideas please.

    Thanks

    Ken

    Hi,
There are a futher 2 torx screws under each headlight.
To access these you will have to remove the bumper. Not a hard job but may take a while. Various screws hold in on, like throught the wheel arch splash guards, up throught the engine under tray, behind various bumper grills etc.

Many thanks for this ... I'll maybe wait a couple off days for it to warm up a little before I tackle this. (so much for the instruction guide that says "20 mins to install").

Hi Volksbug77 - I've spent most of today trying to get the front bumper off my Touran as I want to change the headlights for Continental ones (I just moved to France). I'm glad of your confirmation that I had to take the Engine Under-tray out and wheel arch splash guards off but I'm really struggling to see how the bumper detaches from the mounting in front of the wheels! Any more detailed tips would be appreciated! It's difficult to know when to apply some force or when you might be risking damaging something!

Hi, not been here for a while!
The touran i had was pre facelift, so bolts may be in different places if yours is later?
With the lower engine cover & splashguards removed, you also need to remove the badge grill.
You should see 2 bolts under the grill position, 4 bolts from underneath the bumper & a futher 2 bolts behind the fog light (dummy) grills.
With all these removed the bumper cover should pull forward off of the 2 guides that are attached to the wings.
You should get it off ok on your own, but refitting requires 2 people so not to scratch paintwork.
I hope you're not working in the 6 inch of snow we've got here!
    Good luck.

Thanks for that - I've got the 'VW logo' grill off and also undone everything else which looks like it might be holding the bumper on (but it seems to be attached via the bracket which is located at the side, about 25cm in front of the wheel). However, now that you've confirmed I'm on the right path by taking the wheel arch guards and lower engine panel off, I'll attack it again in the morning - snow permitting! Forecast to be -4 tomorow - bit of a shocker for The Charente!
