boys nd girls i've had my 115bhp bora sport remapped for about 1 month to approx 150-158bhp. And to be honest aprt from the 2 sec drop in the 0-60 timeI have become complacent with the car. i want more power. Lots of threads on here about bigger turbo's + injectors but am I I going to be flogging a dead horse? would I be better off looking for a 1.9 150 tdi, 2.0 140 tdi or pwerhaps going petrol?

EDon't get me wrong I lobe me bora, right spec climatronic,, 6 speed, gti intiorer just want more grunt for my buck.

I've been looking at short shifts after deciding not to lower it due to pos drive shaft rub. anyone got any experience of the forge short shift?

All depends on how much loot you got stashed away.... If Money wernt an issue we would all be driving m5s and rs4s . So what you are prepared to spend on new wheels will determine how fast they spin.....

    So whats your budget??

been having a shufty through the autotrader and for about 5grand i could have an 03 scooby wrx 225bhp, 03 320d bmw, 03 bora golf 150 tdi, audi TT 180, skoda octavia vrs. Presuming I would get book value for mine on trade in i would have about 2grand balance to pay ( I know this is wishful thinking) so i presume two grand would be about my budget as this would be what I would be spending to replace the car.

from what I understand exhausts and filters are not the way to go with the tdi as the standard items are more than good enough, injectors and a turbo I presume would swallow the two grand jus like that

There is also the clutch to consider, if you uprated the power anymore surely you are at risk of clutch slip which will ultimately lead to new clutch and flywheel.

If you are after something fast and you are not bothered about fuel economy its probably worth looking at something else, or just buy a 130TDI and remap it.. I would not get the 150 as i have heard lots of horror stories, having said that the 130 is not perfect.
Vw Bora 2005 130TDI HIghline - P-Torque remap - Gone but not forgotten.
    2003 BMW Z4 3.0i - Regretfully gone

But that's the only place you are going to notice the 'grunt' - i.e during hard acceleration. In regular driving you won't really notice it.

How was the original remapping done? Was it performed using a dynamometer so the affect of the re-mapping could be checked. Or was it a simple chip replacement - which usually just fiddles with the fuel amounts and the actual power you get is very variable. And of course - for acceleration you need to get the torque up as well. A check on a dynamometer would see what numbers you are actually achieving.

But... I would second the thought that you should go for a different car/engine. You won't get a lot more out of the engine you have without having to uprate the clutch and fly wheel and every thing else - then it will only drop your 0-60 time a little more - leading to more complacency and less satisfaction.

yep I'm going to have to get it dyno'd to find out what it's actually doing. I think like you all say perhaps no more spending and save for something else later on.
