    Hi,

The parking sensors on my 2001 Sharan Carat 1.9 TDI have started playing up but have no idea what the problem is.

When reverse is engaged, the sensors kick in with a single bleep, but not the usual 'tone' - the light on the parking sensor button flashes and the sensors don't seem to recognise obstacles.

I should hopefully get access to VAG-COM at the weekend but in the meantime, has anyone experienced this issue before?

    Cheers

    John

You have a faulty sensor in the rear bumper , I have experienced the same problem , after i washed my car , for 2-4 days they didn't work when reverse , I must change one of the sensors.

with ignition on car not running put in reverse then go round the back on your hands & knees & listen to the sensors one at a time you should hear a little ticking noise..this means the sensor works...as soon as you hear one that doesnt tick bingo thats your problem sensor.....when it happened to me i just went to a scrappie & got one of another car they just pull of from behind the bumper..replaced job done...by the way dont try & listen if you have background noise you wont hear a thing unless you have bionic hearing...give it a try...hope this helps..

you will need to check the main unit it is in the pass side rear compartment just on top of your cigar lighters (aux power source) see if it has a power feed...also check out the ford galaxy owners site there will be loads of info on there about this..basically if its not the sensor it might be main unit in the rear as i said..best of luck..
