Hi All I have a 52 plate 130 tdi a4 with Climate control . I wonder if anyone with a similar car could answer a couple of my questions?
Is it normal for the climate controls to run in auto and econ at the same time? Does the climate only come on and econ go off when the ambient temp. is above a certain temp?
Main dealer was no help and I have only had the car a week and the book seems to say that it should be on one setting or the other not both?

I hope this all makes since ??

P.S. this is my first Audi but will not be my last!!

I have Climate control in my 52 plate Passat. You can either have Auto or Econ. I have had both off but never both on.

If I select Econ it stays on until I switch it over or if I switch window demist on in which case it goes to Auto to dehumidify the air I believe.

If I select Auto it stays on Auto until I switch over to Econ.

    Hope this helps.

    BTW Welcome.

    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though

Hi thanks for your reply. I am trying to see if it is working correctly before the warranty expires.
I have only had the car just over a week. When i first got it it seemed to run with econ on in auto alot but one of the auto buttons was stuck in the garage freed it up with wd40 and it seemed to stop doing it for the last couple of days but today came on again. Does anyone know if this is a sign of low gas?
I am going to try find someone to read the fault codes can anyone point me in the direction of a specialist in the medway area in kent?

in my b6 a4 auto & econ are seperate to each other - but can operate in parallel - i.e. if you press auto - econ light will go out (activating your a/c - therefore system is not low on gas as a/c will not work if it is) you can then press econ button again to switch of a/c but auto will still be lit up (i.e. at this stage ECON light on & AUTO lights are on - so therefore both can work independently or in parallel with each other.
p.s. you cannot have AUTO on one side - if AUTO is on (light on) then both driver & passenger are in auto - though both can be at different temperatures.
Hope this is some sort of explaination.

Also garage should not have sprayed WD40 anywhere near your climate control unit!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi just a quick update and some tips for others. I took my car back to the supplying dealer and the guys there diagnosed a faulty high pressure switch I took a look to see where it goes in case I have problems in the furture seems to be a common fault. To get to the switch you remove the passenger head light and it is on the side by the rad.It just screws in.
Also found a place to recondition the climate unit for @ £100 with a years guarantee palce is called BBA- Reman they deal with all kinds of things electronic from ecu's to Air con compressors well worth remembering. Good luck all!!

As I understand from the handbook, if econ is on the a/c only comes on when absolutley neccessary to keep the temperature at the set level therefore saving fuel , I think it just allows cool air in , where as in auto mode the a/c come in straight away to cool the interior.
