    Hello,
I am new to the Audi world and just bought an A6 that needs some repairs done. Mainly the Ignition Coil. What are some of the other problems that the A6's seem to have that i can look for?

Engine and gearbox code would help. They are on the ID label in the service manual or the label in the spare wheel bay. Regards Peter

Electronics may give erratic problems after around 100K miles. The warning system can give false signals--sometimes cured by cleaning multiplug contacts with contact cleaner. Be extra careful not to short anything electrical--this can cause havoc with electrics afterwords. If car has alloys, take them off and apply copper grease behind them to stop them sticking to the brake discs hub.

    I think they are "LY6P/LY6P" and N2H/CK

    Hope this helps.
Also when its turning over it reads "in 2" in the trip odometer and there is an audible beep. The coolant temp/level light and the brake system lights flash on and off as well.

Not sure what codes you've given us there but the LY6P is most likely your paint code.

ok...well here is everything on the ID label.

    WAUZZZ4AZSN016411
    4A5 0G8
    A6 Avant V62.2
    110KW GKAT A4
    ABC -----CRD
    LY6P/LY6P N2H/CK
X2B BOA COH GOE H3E JOJ
    M7G Q1A 1AC 1G2 2PG
    1N1 3AE 3BF T7G 3S2
    4UC OG2 8AV 8GD 8FA
    8RM 1KD 1LB 3FQ 3YB 1BA

I guess the more i look at it. It looks more like the "ABC -----CRD" line up with the word engine in the book.

That is eveything on the ID label. Hope this helps... Im sure its a bit overkill..... Thanks for help.

ABC will be the engine code, CRD most likely the gearbox code.

Do you have access to diagnostic software such as VAG-COM?

VAG-COM is computer based diagnostic software which you plug into the car via its OBD socket (on mine its in the drivers footwell near where your right knee would be). It is really good for electrical faults, it will often tell you what the problem is.

You can get hold of this software fully registered for as little as £75 these days.
