    Hi all,

Just thought I would throw in my tuppence worth regarding buying from a dealer.
I bought my A4 in April from a franchised dealer, and accordingly paid extra for this "privaledge". I paid £16000 for my car with 41,000 miles on it. £995 less than the sticker price.

Now I had seen A4 on Auto Trader of a similar spec, all be it with higher mileage for around £13-14,000. So, what did I get extra for my £2,000?

Well, so far I've had the following done:

Scratches and dings touched up (Granted, could have done that myself)
Rear Chrome trim piece replaced on boot
News Discs and Pads all round
    All four wheel refurbished
    Two new tyres
    Set of wiper blades
New front grille due to stone chip
    New headlights adjustment motor (Warranty)
    New Water Pump (Warranty)
Timing belt for £177 (Replaced when above done)
    New Turbo (Warranty)
    New EGR Cooler (Warranty)

Now some may say I've been unlucky with my car, some say I've been very lucky with it all breaking under warranty. And I'm in the last camp there.

But I am certainly happy I paid that couple of grand extra to buy from Audi knowing that if something breaks they will replace it with no hassle!!

I enquired about a warranty from elsewhere when I was looking and they were around £350 - £500 but I'm quite sure they wouldn't be as easy to use as the Audi one!

Surely I can't be the only one who has bought from a dealer and been glad they had when things have started to go wrong?

Anyway, just thought I would give the dealers some praise for a change as they seem to get quite a bashing on here at times.

I always will buy from a main dealer unless the price difference is something more than silly. I used to have a citroen C4 and this went wrong afew times but the main issue was the Cruise which broke all the time. However the dealer I bought it from took it in and looked at it and gave me a car while they did all under warrenty. They replaced the dashboard display, the ECU and some other engine bits and pieces all for warrenty and never tried to challange the warrenty. So far happily I haven't had any issues with my Audi but I would hope to get the same results.

Also if you buy secondhand from the main dealer then the car should have passed all their checks and I would think they know the weaknesses of their cars and check them too. I always live my life with the saying You get what you pay for. That is true no matter what you are buying.

I bought my 2.0 A4 for a dealer about 4 weeks ago now. I payed 13k for a 55 reg with 16k on it. Not a fanstastic spec in it,but I like it. However I've got the benefit of a decint fincance package on my side, a years warranty and 2 years FREE SERVICING, so Iv already saved myself cash there, and I can use the car as a deposit for my next motor as its got a guarenteed trade in value. Plus when buying from a dealer you get all the support etc from them. Unless I plan on buying a bit of a banger as a run around etc I think I'll always use a main dealer from now on.

    Hi,

Thanks to VW, I have a hatred for dealerships (or ********hips as they are know).

My experience with Audi dealerships is completely different.
Apart from the slimy sales monkeys (which are the same wherever you go) my local dealership (Hull Audi) always make me feel valued and have always given me fantastic, professional service.

So to answer you question.. normally no, but as it's an Audi - YES! A dealership is only as good as it's manager and the group it belongs to though, so ask people who use YOUR local Audi dealership what they think of it.

Got my A4 from York Audi (gilders) and so far so good. I reckon I got a good price although they did try it on with the finance to start with.

I've bought parts from them in the past and had a set of keys matched (my old B5) all with good service.

People seem to forget that every dealer in the UK is a franchise, and are not owned by Audi. So it's very important you find a good dealership rather than expecting it just "because" they have the Audi brand on the site.

I've previously posted a thread about my experience of buying from an Audi dealer. I bought an A4 2.0 TDI Multitronic with a lot of kit in April from a North Western Audi dealer. But when my local Audi dealer uncovered something that made me doubt the legitimacy of my 07 reg car the dealer that I bought it from took it back and gave me an A6 Sline with all the toys to run about in for 4 weeks until they found me a car I was happy with. I ended up with a 57 Reg with the same kit but thos also has cruise, auto lights/wipers, paddle shift and auto dimming mirrors and it didn't cost a penny more. I even got a bottle of Audi champagne and flowers for my girlfriend. So they're not all bad.

I'm currently very unhappy with two of my local dealers, from around nottingham and lincoln.

But when I previously owned an A3 my local Derby Audi forgot to reprogram my computer, so after paying £400.00 for a service I was able to complete 3000 miles and the little light cam on saying SERVICE ME
