Hey all - I got the S-Type alloys on my E polo when I bought it (14 inch) and was wondering what are the largest alloys you can put on the polo before it affects the speedo, and needs modification.

I saw some "Mondello" alloys in Halfords for £499 and they are 17 inch. . .they look amazing and I was wondering could I have them on my polo with no issues? . . or is 16 inch the biggest before it needs its' arches rolled out.

    Thanks alot in advance.

Hey , I have a polo from November 2006 - it's the model that you can still buy today (except it obviously has the older engine).

This may well freak you out but my partners daughter wants to get pink alloy wheels for her 2003 Polo

Any idea where I might find pink ones to fit and is the maximum size 16" as she had been looking at 17"

Actually she would prefer something like these but pink and black rather than pink and silver.

aww man they are vile! Ive seen them before though and they arent the best...

anyways the biggest comfertable size on a polo is 16" but 15" wheels look far more comfertable.

halfords maybe?? im pretty sure those are discontinued? dont quote me on this though!

I do apologise for doing that to you!

17" not OK because the tyre width would foul the wheel arch I guess?

In any case I told her 17's would look pretty silly without lowering and 16's might not be much better.

Here is a 2003 (9n) polo on 16" wheels. Pretty comfertable size really! My bad! I thought 15" would look better but 16 seem to suit the car quite well:

They stick out a wee bit too much for my liking. . .. . . is that car lowered? . . .I'm just going to stick the wheels on without modifying the car in any way.

Halfords have a nice set on their website, Ripspeed but they're only available in 15 and 17 which is typical .

No point moving up from 14 to 15 to be honest.

the reason why they stick out is due to the width of the wheel. so anything with a 7" width should look great.

aslong as you run a slim enough profile trye (40 or 45) then you should be just fine. Yup that car is lowered on coilovers @ 30mm!

I had a Polo Dune with 17" BBS alloys which were the standard size.

I don't think there is an issue with the wheel arch, all you need to do is to fit wheel arch extensions (standard on the Dune) to make it legal.
