    Hi,

I have a 2000 MK4 Golf and have had recurrent problems with rain leaking into the passenger footwell, this seems to only happen when we have really heavy rain (like recently) and its now a real puddle. Have had a couple of garages look at it without success - have looked at where the water runs off the top of the bonnet and thought it could be leaking from here somewhere - does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks!

    Emma

Classic problem! Your pollen filter drain holes are blocked, or debris on the filter, or the filter is not correctly fitted.

Open the bonet, the pollen filter is under the black plastic panelling at the bottom of the windscreen (Near side), there are about four screws that secure the cover.

Oh, unless you've got a sunroof, then it could be its drain tubes are blocked!

Thanks - garage has apparantly already checked the pollen filter - I do have a sunroof - where are the drainage tubes and how do I check them? The water seems to be dripping down from behind the glovebox - almost running through the pollen filter if that makes sense?

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

For the sunroof drain tubes, use something like welding wire to poke down them to clear any blockages Mine hasnt got a sunroof, but I believe the drain holes are in each corner of the sunroof assembly Open the roof to see them

As for the pollen filter, there are drain holes below where the pollen filter sits, these are prone to filling up with leaves abd other crud, so it still could be these blocked it the garage havnt been thourough enough Its easy enough to remove and check yourself
