    Hi,
I have a 2001 A6 Avant 1.8T. The seal around the tailgate has come loose on the drivers side and is letting water seep into the interior. This means that the carpet lining on the inside of the tailgate is constantly wet, and I have to put up with near constantly steamed-up windows in wet weather.

I have tried to put it back into shape, but it must have been loose for quite a while before I noticed it and with the tailgate constantly banging shut on it, it is now beyond repair. It is not a normal rubber seal, it seems to be made of a combination of reinforced rubber with a type of material over it.

Does anyone know how/where to get hold of a replacement? I do wnat to eventually upgrade the car to the current model, but need to keep it going for about another year.

    Thanks

It's not the sort of thing that you'll get as a pattern part. I think your only options for a replacement are a breaker or a main dealer.
