Have Hex-can-usb which is the latest lead and software version, which can do everything I think !
Do diagnostics as part of my business (also have snap=on scanner) so charge a small fee.

After reading your posts and doing some of my own research could one of you please give me the low down on the best place to get this software?
Also obviously I have to get the right lead to connect my latop to my car (interface) ?

Does Vagcom still work out if your car has been re-mapped?


Any other information would be usefull

It depends what car/model you have. Up to about 2004 you can buy a cheap cable from Ilexa or Gendan and download free VCDS lite from ross-tech web site. After 2004 (roughly) you need a proper ross-tech dongle and software which costs about £260 from Ilexa or Gendan. This is all explained on the ross-tech site. (Note: VCDS used to be called vag-com)
