    Hi all

    Been offered a P/X on a Golf GTi 1.8 20v, would like to know that when changing the cambelt is it necessary to change the water pump too?

    What am I looking at in terms of cost of parts and labour?

    Also has air con that needs re-gassing, seller claims it can be done at a cost £40

    Please advise.

    Not "necessary" but highly recommended.

    Main dealers will charge two limbs for this. For a GT TDI, my local dealer wants something in the region of £430

    I've seen it offered for around £45 in a couple of places so that doesn't sound too far off the mark.

    What year is the golf and what engine code is fitted ? I offer FULL cambelt kits for 220 quid all in. Full cambelt kit(tensioner, relay roller and hydrolic damper + new nuts and bolts), water pump with metal impeller, aux. drive belts, fresh G12 coolant and diagnostic check. I can service your car for free while you there: you could bring your own parts or i can supply and charge just for parts at trade prices ! I am based in N. London.
