Ive just picked up my Golf 1.6 S FSI and am very happy with it althoug am getting confused when reading the manual in comparison with the car as the majority of the optional extras are not fitted.

As it is the car just squeezes into my garage but the missus is struggling to get in and out, (mainly due to the fact that she is expecting rather than too many pies ). The manual discusses electric folding mirrors but these arent detailed on my switch and also searching the forum it seems to be suggested that they are not fitted in this country anyhow.

Th mirrors that are fitted are heated / electric movement, can they be folded in manually to add an extra few inches when putting the car away ? I had a look this evening but they looked to be fairly fixed and I didnt want to force them too much.

If they're electrically powered folding mirrors then there should be a rotary switch above the window buttons.

    The positions are (going ACW) O(ff) - R(ight) - Heat - Foldback - L(eft).

I haven't got picture of the icon or switch, but the question is did you order the necessary "pack" to include it?

no, they're definately not electric folding as the only options are the adjustment and the heat. Im just trying to work out if they can be folded manualy ?

I had the same problem on my last car as the mirrors werent foldable at all. Colour coded too, I was sick of repairing them. Fortunately have the garage now but as I say the golf just gets in but then doesnt leave a great deal of room either side so the further I can edge it across to the left the better !

Oh my mirrors are folded in when the car is parked and it's parked within 2" of a sturdy wall and the dimwits (polite version) still hit it...

The folding mirrors don't fold that much and IMO are not really worth having. The pack 'containing' folding mirrors was on our Match but I wouldn't pay extra for it.
