Hi chaps got a bit of a problem with my golf gt tdi 130 the problem is no.2 is not firing at all things that have been done is headgasket (for oil leak) head checked, new hydrolic tappets, new internal injector wiring loom, i have checked the cam which is ok swapped injectors around all work in other cylinders, done ohms test out of autodata on as much as i can, borrowed an oscilloscope and everthing seems ok, p.s. no fault codes at all, any ideas its just about done me now lol

Injectors wiring loom is a common failure on these engines and its about 60-90 quid, depending on engine. You will have to do a diagnostic scan first to see if its electrical fault. I hope you replaced the injector bolts and holding clamps + seals as they are one time items and the injectors can work free and will rattle in their bores and will destroy the head eventually, wich is "mucho dinerros" !

Thank you for the reply i have replaced the wiring inside the head 39 quid i got it for and there are no fault codes on at, i haven't replaced them yet as the fault was on before i did the headgasket and wanted to see if that cured both faults first, i have swapped the injectors round and they all work fine in the other cylinders just not number 2, also forgot to mention but you probley guess, it is smoking and you can smell diesel (due to not firing), what symtons do you get when they have been rattling around ? maybe it's had an injector before but i did look down and from what i can rember looked ok, i can remember the seals on them all are not great, but with swapping them round would show them up ? thanks Stu

if what you say is correct,then it only leaves the camshaft lobe, basically.

I was told about these and measured the hieght with number 1 and both the same height and don't look too bad to be honest, it's a good one asked so many people, yep it's stumped me and a few others, i will double check the cam, all 3 lobes inlet exhaust and injector and check the head where the injector goes and maybe a set of seals ?
