Since my A4 Audi is front wheel drive, the clanking noise I hear when turning I belive to be the front wheel drive knuckles, has any one had them fix yet? and if so how much did they cost?, also how often do they last, if any one knows.

I changed the driver side CV joint 18 months ago and it has failed again already. Not long after changing it I had to change the passenger side also. I got a mate to do the work. The joint cost me £80 Trade and £40 for labour BUT, when he changed the passenger side he didnt remove the ABS censor and damaged it. I would assume that for the joint to go so quickly there must be an under-lying problem which is putting pressure on the joint but I aint sussed it out yet. The car A4 1998 1.6 has only done 50,000m and is on its 5th joint including the 2 that where fitted to the vehicle in the factory...
