Try pressing the 'Check' button as this may tell you what is giving the warning; it might be low brake fluid or worn pads (I know your mechanic said they were fine but there may be a fault with the wiring).

The ESP / ABS warning light isn't on as well, is it?

    Press the check button.

Failing that get someone with VAG-COM to scan for faults or take it to your $tealer....

The wires will be around the brake caliper. He cant be much of a mechanic if he cant get to the bottom of this!! Has he checked the sensors? How did he check them?

if you dont know what your looking at (sounds like your 'mechanic' doesnt) then take it in to someone who does - brakes are pretty important!!

I get the same thing on my TDI, but only every now and then (it started again recently). I find that it goes away after a few seconds and does not cause any problems. Have never had it looked at (has happened intermittently for about 3 years now) and I think it is just a gremlin, maybe caused by damp.

May sound a little dangerous to ignore this warning, but I figure that if it really was a problem it would not just go away after a few seconds (as mine does).

If you find a fault, please post what it is.

I used to have something similar on my old A4 B7 2.0 TDI.

Every now and again the break warning light would show up, esp when you had been giving it some "vigorous" driving

For piece of mind (and the fact that they needed doing anyway), i replaced the front pads at 60-70K miles myself. Problem still came back every now and then when the breaks got hot.

You will find a little metal tag on the break pads which connects to the disk when the pad is nearing its ware limit. It could be that this tag has been bent somehow maybe ??

If its happening every time you are turning on the car, try disconnecting the front two sensors (they alarm when the circuit is closed, so disconnecting them will null the alarm). From memory there is a twist connector just above the break calliper (you will need to take the front two wheels off to gain access).

If the alarm goes away, and your pads look ok then you have found your problem. If it doesn’t, get it to an audi specialist with VAG-COM.

    Cheers
    Tris

Hope you all had a good weekend guys : )

I have been driving this weekend with the car, and i find this very odd guys because my cars braking is rather fine and it has only been driven a bit over 40 000km it could not be the brake pads I suppose. by the way could there be some wires under the steering wheel to do with this ?

It must be something with the electricals ??
