Many thanks to everyone contributed to this thread! I've just successfully installed DIS and cruise control on my A4 B6 following instructions found here all I have left to do is to make 'water feature' in the centre of the dash to work as it supposed to, parts have been ordered.
    Cheers!

    Hi All,

    Sorry for recalling this thread,

    I have just installed cruise control with module 8E0 953 549 Q from Audi B7 2007year to my car Audi A4 B6 2004 year, it's working fine.

I have intention to install MFSW as well but old type (b6 type single stage airbag) as soon as I find it.

My question is : will this sc module support old style multifunction steering wheel (as it is from new model B7) and will be possible to use sds with this steering wheel as on below picture?

One more question, is it possible to use steering wheel from Audi A6 or A8 which looks like this one and appropriate slipping ring?

    Thanks for the replies,

    Regards

the slip ring differs for b6 and b7 single/dual airbag but apart from that q should work with b6 mfsw and sds

Steering control unit with revision M or P support b6 mfsw

    Slip ring for b6 8e0 953 541e

The wheels from a8 should be fine however you will need to alter the loom for the b6 steering control unit as a8 differs, best be is to find a B6 unit to save the hassle

    Hi A8 Tech and others,

As you are already aware, I have RNS-e installed by factory (on my Audi A4 B6 2004) and recently I have installed oem BT for phone. I have already installed CCS with processor 8E0 953 549 Q. All is functioning OK. Now I want to have control of radio and phone on my steering wheel. At this moment I can find and buy MFSW for B6 model (as I do not want to retrofit B7 MFSW) with these symbols "<" and ">" instead of the symbols "R/T" and symbol of phone handle (like on above pictures). As I am inpatient and want to buy it, can somebody tell if first buttons (< & >) can work with phone and if SDS can be used with these buttons?

    It looks like this:

    Thanks in advance

I fitted a heated steering wheel from an A8 (used) had to use the control box from an a4 though (is ib the wheel itself) and as far as I can remember I had to buy a new wiring loom for inside the wheel.

My car 2004 Avant came with factory fitted CC & auto wipers I have since added the stalk for the Dis, I have tried to get it coded however Audi here in Germany are telling me that the car cant simply be coded (they haven't tried) if this is true what else do I need to change or are they talking rubbish as I don't have vagcom or any connection to anybody that does have it I cant check it. Anybody in the Paderborn area who could / who wish's to help please get in contact.

I have done everything on the post above apart from the coding & wiring up the washer level sensor it is in place just waiting until it is coded before connecting in up. My problem is that Audi are saying it cant be done (no reason give why it cant be done) as I don't have VCDS to complete the Mod, I have no way to prove if it can or cant be done.

If your steering module (SCSM) is working with cruise control then it can do DIS, as described here http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...tting_%288E%29. Sounds like Audi are just fobbing you off!

I just retrofitted Cruise to mine. Had to change the SCSM and add the Cruise stalk. Coded myself, using the codes generated here http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8970502/VAG-...ctivation.html. Obviously, you will need VCDS. I have a unofficial cable from ebay (£20) and a registered version of VCDS Lite (£68). Worth the investment if you plan on keeping your Audi as it's an incredibly useful tool.

No need to change the slip ring, just the SCSM (steering ecu as you call it ) and add the Cruise control stalk. Then code as above.
