No, I didn't know I had too, what code should it be? would this have any bearing on the 'mode' button?

    Thanks

Worth checking the coding against the Ross tech wiki, as you're now controlling the phone through the MFSW.

Am I right in understanding you have fitted a A3(or TT) Flat Bottom MFSW to an A4 (B7)?

I did this retrofit to my B7, As the FBMFSW wasn't available in the B7 I used a A3 steering wheel wiring harness. The pinouts for the 12 pin yellow plug on the slipring are different between A3 and A4. Hence I had to move 3 wires within that plug to enable the multifunction to work properly. Worth checking what car your steering wheel harness is from?

I believe it is a TT FBMFSW (as per picture) Yes I'm fitting it to my A4 B7, I bought and fitted the airbag loom 4F0 971 589 A, as the original loom (one in my car non mfsw) didn't even have any wires out from the connector for the MF operations (Non MFSW originally fitted). The loom that came with the FBMFSW has a totally different connector to the slip ring therefore it was unusable for me. The new loom 4F0 971 589 A, has all 6 pins populated in the MF connector, but the steering side of the loom only has three.

All functions other than 'mode' are ok.

    Cheers

Where did you get the part number from? My wheel came with a harness fitted, starting 8P0, I haven't the full number to hand at the moment.

Like you say the yellow connector is slightly different but it does fit as I have done it. You just need to slightly modify the locking tab on the end of it.

I had to move three wires in that yellow connector to get it working properly. I'll dig out the pinouts for that connector tomorrow if you can't find them via google.

You check the phone system coding? And you're 100% sure the steering and rnse coding is correct?

The part number I got from one of many websites from where I built a program of what I was going to do from fragmented info across the internet. I doubt were talking about the same yellow connector as it is not just a slightly different but totally different (please see pics attached), it was fitted to an Audi A2 with the FBMFSW & airbag.

I 'just' went out and coded the telephone to 0011822 and now the mode button allows me to use the phone but I was under the impression that I could select all sources via this button no? for example if playing mp3 I push mode it brings up the phone book in the DIS window and I can scroll through it and call/end. but pushing again takes me back to controlling mp3 again but no other options, perhaps this is what it is supposed to do? if so then all that's left is to do SDS Mod and I'm good

RNS-e coding is 0309717 and Steering is 04041.

ALL DONE NOW, WILL UPLOAD A 'HOW TO'

    Cheers
