    Hi guys,

Recently i installed JBL 13cm componant speakers. £64, and what can i say.. they are rubbish, not loud at all and distort easy.

Anyone know of any good sets?

If you don't mind spending, MB Quart or Focal are very nice sounding component speakers. Have you still got the factory head unit? If so your sound will improve by fitting a good quality aftermarket stereo.

Ive got some infinity ref series from my old car that im waitin to put into my golf, they sound amazing, had them amped up in my last car and im going to do the same again. They'l cost around the same as the JBL's but you get sooo much more for your money!!

Yea they seem decent, but as i thought the JBL's would be louder then the standards, turns out they dont quite cut the mustard... im wondering will i have to shell out quite abit to get something better then them..

And i havent amped my new speakers as my stereo has a in-built Mos-fet amp, but dont get me wrong, its not the most powerful, but it does me ok.

And i didnt have to run the speaker wiring as i think the MK4 GTI comes standard with speakers in the back, so i just replaced them,

What year and spec is your golf?

Cant really see why the JBL's wouldnt be loud as they are only going to be getting whatever power your head unit is putting out

What head unit are you running and have you checked the phase on your speakers

Ahh youve put them in the back?? I want to replace the ones in the front, ive got 1999 SE, its already got comps but i want to replace them with my infinitys an amp them up, usually i'd jus run speaker wire to the HU an connect the speaker wiring to the speaker wiring from the iso block, but because they are componants, am i right in assuming the 2 speakers in the doors have got sep wiring running directly from the iso block? Or is it just 1 set of wires that are split at the door?

Ive got the double din JVC KW-AVX810 . I had them fitted by a garage, so im not sure on the phase... But it must just be where the front speakers are that good that the jbl dont compare...im guessing
