    might be a stupid quesiton.
i've seen a4s with 2.0 T on the back. Some are normal but some have a red T for the turbo

    Does this mean anything

You just answered yourself. 2.0 without the T means that is normally aspirated, the one with the T is turbocharged...andthe ones with the red T have a higher output.

I'd heard the red T is also put on S-Line models though!

    Providing it's a Turbo, obviously...

I have the 220ps 2.0T and it had a silver T before I debadged it.

I spoke to an Audi salesperson once and he thinks it is pot luck which colour gets stuck on at the factory when I asked him the question what is the difference between red/silver T's.

Just a shot in the dark but maybe the silver T is a low pressure turbo and the red T is a high pressure turbo perhaps??

It's purpose is to confuse and generate envy, there is however no special meaning to the red vs silver T , D , I or any other letter that may adorn the rear of an Audi or VW.

VW have used letter colouring in the past to denote power output.

The Golf 2.0 (115bhp) used to get a silver GTI badge and the 1.8T (150bhp) used to get the same but with a red I.

They stopped doing this for insurance purposes (to stop the thieves being able to identify the proper GTI!) despite the fact that any VW enthusiast could spot the difference anyhow!

Also, the TDIs used to get the D and / or the I in red depending if it was a 1130bhp or 150bhp Diesel.

With regards to Audi, on the previous model A3, they used to put a subtle red shadow behind the I to denote that it had an extra ~30+ BHP over the standard model (usually on Sport / Quattro models).

Er.. but with regards to the original question.. I dont know!
