I didn't think it was a waste of my time. When you see the tool used on your car, you may be impressed enough that you will consider buying one for yourself in the future.

Still, what you do not see is the eBay sellers trying to help you make a decision about what to get and where to buy. Please keep in mind, there would be nothing to sell on eBay if Ross-Tech did not exist to produce the best aftermarket VW diagnostic tool that can be had for free!

I wish you the best with making the mods you desire for your car.

The shareware version of the product is free. It is limited to the functions you saw in the chart I listed earlier in this thread. There is no cost to you for the shareware version. Yes you must provide the wire to connect your computer to the car and that is what the eBay seller is offering you.

If you want to turn the shareware version into a full version, then you would spend $99 and register with Ross-Tech.

thanks for all your help so far!!
I have a fully registered version of Vag Com and have used it to enable anti-hijack on my Passat, miles to empty is a standard function on my computer and I cant see a use for auto windows as I have air con and I dont have the amp wound up enough to scare passers by anyway!
I have enabled lit needles and gauges but I had to use Vag Tacho to download the eprom then load it into a hex editor, edit it then reblow the eprom with Vag Tacho.
So I would say no to your question, but I would also say that anyone who owns a modern VW/Audi/Skoda/Seat and does not have Vag Com must have lots of money to throw away at the garage, unless they have a friend to bother.
