    Hi guys and girls

Was returning home from Blackpool tonight when my Transporter T5 suffered a loss of power on the motorway. It was totally out of the blue, no warning lights, the power just cut and I couldn't get above 60mph (although I did have momentum as I was travelling faster than that when the power loss occurred).

The van seemed happy, no smoke, temperature gauge was okay, everything seemed normal apart from a big loss in power.

ALTHOUGH, when I switched it off and on again at speed all the power came back, just enough to get me over Barton Bridge when I lost power for a second time. And eventually a third time.

My first thought was the turbo could be on its way out, seen as the van is now on 106k and before I had it, had not been given the correct spec oil.

    But then I remembered...

Today was the first time in my ownership of the van it has been filled with diesel that is not from Shell. And I've owned the van about 3 months now. Today I put BP's diesel in it and this happened. Should I just fill it back up with Shell's diesel and see how things go?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thankfully not, the van kept going and I never had to stop.

It felt like the turbo had shut down, and when I slipped it down a couple of gears it still had full revs at 4,000rpm, so the van didn't go into limp mode.

I've read in another thread about possible overboosting, does this sound possible?

MAF is the easy thing to do, fellow donkey.

Yesterday it was fine all day, Altrincham and back but it will most likely need refuelling today so I'll put the Shell stuff back in and see what happens.

It will surprise the life out of me if its fuel... not sure I should mention this but my old Volvo became addicted to the old 4 Star fuel and ran like a bag of bolts when I put Unleaded in it!

VAG-COM time tonight if I get a chance.

Well let us know, I'd be very suprised if it's BP Fuel! The only petrol station near me this weekend that sells Super Unleaded is a BP station! I don't want to put BP fuel in if it's gonna knack me S3!

It might just be that its been on Shell stuff only for months. I'm instructing the wife to go to Shell only, the A6 is in the same boat!

Haha indeed they are. I 3/4 tanked my Astra up on free dieselly petrol before I traded it in for the van, it smoked a little bit but ran fine!

Think I'm being punished for that now!
