driving home from work today and my traction control light came on along with my EPC light, i lost power and started slowing down, once pulled over the engine would tick over normally then a few seconds of shuddering and normal and so on. i tried revving and couldnt get it past 3000 rpm. the lights have now gone out and on tick over everything is fine, i rev and all is fine but when i take foot off accelerator it goes down to tick over, then feels as if it is going to stall then the revs pick up to about 1200-1300 for a few secs n then down to tick over n almost stalls and revs again and keeps doing this! what the hell is up with it!!!!!

    bloody electronics

    thanks

the temp sensor usually makes it erratic only when cold. The MAF cause flat spots. A check with VagCom would help to narrow it down if you can find somebody with it. I was going to suggest coilpacks but if you turn around and say its a diesel then maybe not LOL

2003, i think i found part of the problem, i fitted a replacement filter from bmc and they supplied me with a foam washer which was sucked in and caught around the butterfly!
